April's love for animals started with shoebox mice and a tearful rabbit incident. As an adult, unique pets like Freddie the prairie dog and Harold the phonebook-eating rabbit solidified her passion. Yet, her veterinary dream shifted after Harold's passing.
Back in Nashville, she rescued Roy, a spaniel who became her kayaking, hiking, and (hilariously) grooming companion. Inspired by Roy, they embarked on a new adventure: pet grooming school in Atlanta. Despite Roy's grooming resistance, he served as invaluable practice.
In 2005, "Hair of the Dog" opened in Hendersonville, with Roy as a beloved mascot. Years later, April continues to groom, providing loving homes for rescued animals like Moozzy and Rita. A dedicated professional, she actively maintains her skills and certifications.

Each groom includes Bath, hand blow dry, nail trim and file, ear cleaning, brush out and a light spritz of conditioning spray. For some breeds this also includes clipping the hair in the paws, sanitary clip, and or a full body trim.
Every dog is treated as an individual, and so pricing is a little different for each pet due
to coat condition, behavior, frequency of grooming maintenance, and any special needs.
